Stars for Pam - Part 2

Project Name: Stars for Pam
Pattern: Starstuff Cowl @ Moogly (Ravelry (Ravelry)

Yarn: Yarn: Red Hart Super Saver
How much?: How much?: 1 skein = 364.0 yards (332.8 meters), 198 grams at the end I had more than half the skein left. I'd say I used about 1/3 of it or around 150 yards most likely. I used around 50 yards of the dark green.
Color family: Color family: Spring Green & Dark Forest Green
Start date: Start date: May 12, 2014 (I promised this prize back in April Yikes!)
Weaving in ends on the Train

I decided to do a dark green SC around all 36 stars in 1 row. I wish I had done a better job weaving in ends as I went as it was a really daunting task to have 2 ends to weave in for every star. I made sure to weave in the edge ends as I went around with SC. Yesterday I finished weaving in ends on the train to work. Project looks awesome and Pamela loved it!

What went well:
Pam loved the Star Scarf and declared that I knew her well. She calls it her "Rising Star Scarf". She wore it with one end wrapped around her head to be her "proper tiara" so I guess I know what to make her next.

Finished and ready for it's new home!
What I'd have done differently:
Weave in ends as I work along the motifs. It's been a long time since I made a project with so many separate pieces. I would also like to use better yarn for most projects, however; this was a specific color ask with the note that wool really bothered her skin.

Stars for Pam

Stars, Stars everywhere!
Project Name: Stars for Pam
Pattern: Starstuff Cowl @ Moogly (Ravelry)

Yarn: Red Hart Super Saver
How much?: 1 skein = 364.0 yards (332.8 meters), 198 grams
Color family: Spring Green
Purchase date: May 12, 2014 (I promised this prize back in April Yikes!)

I started with a J hook as the pattern suggested, but I quickly decided that the stars were too dense so I switched to a N.
I experimented on about 10 stars of various sizes and numbers of points. I really like the 7-point star, but I didn’t think that the employee I’m making this for would like it as much as me, and I wanted a quick project so I went with the simplest method, pattern as written. Now I just have to figure out how to take the 32 stars I made and join them into something like a scarf. Part of me wants to use a different color to join them, but I don’t know what I have yarn wise that would look good.

I've finished the 36 I think I need to do a two row scarf, now I just need to figure out how to join them together.

I really like the way the 7 pointed star looks.

The bag has 32 stars in it, next to it is the stack of trial and error stars with the one where I wasn't paying atteion and did the point sequence off the side of a point and didn't notice until I'd already cut the threads on top.

This is 16 stars on the edge of the couch where I did about half the work. The other half was on a stopped MAX with a broken door.
